Where Oh Where Has the Month Gone?

Where oh where has the last month gone?? Did you see it, cause I think it may have passed over me while I was working on things! Again, sorry for my absence all. I have been hard at work on a million little craft projects for our new apartment (moving May 1) and for the babies room I will finally get to set up once we move. That coupled with the most finicky and terrible internet connection in ALL of Canada and getting online to post has been a headache. I will seriously be lucky if I can compose this entire post with out the net crashing on me!
Any way I thought I would give you guys a look at some of the little projects I have been working on. I got really into finding things at Thrift stores and spray painting them (generally satin white). Here are a few of these items:

This feathered (ceramic) friend here got a nice coat (or 3) of satin white paint. Much fresher looking!

It all started off with the vase on the left. I love white ceramic pieces in stores and on Etsy but I just couldn't afford to build a collection of things. These started off blue crackle, orange, and grey. I think they look quite good and well composed together!

This little owl was much like the sparrow above.

The next leg of my crafting was items for my baby girls room. This dresser I got used. It was solid Cherry Wood with drawer interiors of oak. The thing STANK of cigarette smoke and was covered in nicotine. Many washings with TSP and priming with special primer (plus a lot of airing out) finally got rid of it.
I painted it a controversial hot pink to match the fabrics I selected for her sheets etc. I then used gold leafing on the mirror and flower accents on front leg. Overall I think its great! Defiantly more modern and not everyone's cup of tea (pink was NOT the colour of choice for her room but I backed myself a corner) but I think it defiantly has impact!

This is a decorative piece I have made for her wall out of paper. There is an E on it, for Evelyn which will be her name and then a bird on the bottom which is a small motif I am kinda using in her room. This wreath I made following the instruction from Paper Bag Wreath from my last post, only I used pastel bond paper.

Finally this is the mobile I have made for her room. The pictures are not very good, I am going to try and take more pictures... sometime. I really really love it. I used the basic instructions from Martha Stewart's Bird Mobile only I used a natural branch that I power washed the bark off of and then attached the birds which were made in several shades of pink, some white and a green with floss.

As long as the internet stays still I will be back on board for more frequent posts. If you have any suggestion for future posts or have anything you would like to see please feel free to email me at erin@kittybeansjewerly.ca

I was just thiking last night if spray painting ceramics would work and stumbled on your site via another blog.

Thank you! A project has been born.

That dresser is AWESOME! Fabulous choice of color. I'm expecting a baby in July and have been scouring Craigslist for appropriate nursery pieces. I really hope I pull out a beautiful finished product like this!

Thanks Gini, THe Paint i used was not fab and is chipping off. I am between sanding off the bad spots and repainting it pink, OR if I get pregnant with a boy, paint it white since baby #2 will have to share a room with my daughter and it would be too mean to have a boy in a bright pink dresser room.
